  • Yes, at Swisstours we offer customized tours based on rail travel for all individual travellers and families desiring to explore the destination on their own. Our tours provide flexibility of time and your own preference of travel dates.
  • Swisstours specialises in customized holidays for FIT Travellers. We do not operate group tours.
  • You can book the tour by clicking on the holidays tab on the home page. From the list of tours on the holiday page you can select the package of your choice.
  • Then there is a step-by-step booking procedure which allows you to view details and rates of each tour before you make the final booking.
  • After selection of the tour and submission of your details you will be directed to the 3D payment page where you can make payment by debit/credit card/net banking.
  • Once you make the payment you will receive a confirmation email of your request immediately.
  • Your booking confirmation email will be sent to you within 72 hours after you book the tour.
  • We will send you (by email) the vouchers for the hotels booked, the sightseeing tours, mountain excursions and all other services described on the "inclusions" page of the package booked. All train tickets we cannot e-mail to you will be couriered to your residence or deposited at Zurich/ Geneva airport or the reception of the hotel where you spend the first night along the tour.
  • Best is to book as soon as your planning allows. Theoretically you can book as close as 7 working days prior to your departure date, although there are times when the hotels are more likely to be booked out than at other times (e.g. during high season, a fair or at Christmas time).
  • You can pay online on our website when you book the tour with a debit or credit card (VISA, MasterCard) or net banking. Or you can contact our office and pay for the tour by bank transfer or a pay order.
  • Yes, when you book a tour on our site you will be directed to the payment page where you must swipe your card for the entire amount of the tour. However if you do wish to make part payments you can contact us for further details on the same.
  • You will receive a confirmation email of your request immediately and your booking confirmation within 72 hours after you booked the tour.
  • The vouchers will be sent to you by e-mail (pdf-file). Everything which cannot be sent to you by e-mail will be either couriered to you at your residence address or deposited at Zurich / Geneva airport or the reception of the hotel where you spend the first night along the tour.

  • Guidance as to how to go about the tour will be provided by our Swiss specialists before the tour. However on the tour there would be no guide or escort.
  • Our packages include accommodation at centrally located 3 or 4 star category hotels as per your selection.
  • On all the tours only breakfast at the hotel is included. Lunch and dinners have to be arranged on own. We do provide assistance with details on restaurants (Indian or local cuisine) in each city included in the package booked.
  • Twin sharing means two adults sharing one room with two separate beds.
  • Triple room is allotted when 3 adults share one room together. Mainly, a family of 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults prefers this type of room. The size of the room is usually same as that of a twin room and the third bed is often a roll-away mattress.
  • If Guest’s family is of four, then s/he is given 2 rooms at most of the destinations in Europe. As per the safety norms, 4 Guests are not allowed in one hotel room. If there are 2 children below 16 years of age, then you can select the price per child in the “Child in double room on own” category on the rates page.
  • Our tours are designed using train travel, that’s why the hotels are all located close to the cities main stations.
  • Yes, up to a certain point this is possible, please contact us if you are interested in adding more nights or adjusting a tour.
  • Yes, with Switzerland being well connected to many neighbouring countries, one can surely combine our packages with stay in other countries. Our specialist will be more than happy to customize the extended tour for you.
  • A Swiss Travel Pass is a travel pass for Switzerland which enables you to travel free of charge in the Swiss public transport services for periods ranging from 3 days to one month in 41 cities.
  • You can use your Swiss Travel Pass in the whole Swiss Travel System: in all trains, Post buses, ships, buses and even trams.

  • From the list of passes you can select the Swiss Travel Pass that suits your travel requirements in terms of number of days, 1st or 2nd class and consecutive or flexi days’ pass.

  • Effective 1st September 2015, the Swiss Travel Pass is a pre validated & closed dated pass.
  • The traveller will need to provide their first day of use of the pass while making the booking. This date will be printed on the pass.
  • Travellers must carry a valid passport in order to travel with this rail pass.
  • An adult Swiss travel pass is valid for a person travelling independently in Switzerland.
  • A youth Swiss travel pass is valid for any traveller who is under 26 years of age.
  • The Swiss travel system offers the Swiss family card. This card provides free travel for children under 16 years when travelling with atleast one parent.
  • A consecutive-day pass provides unlimited rail travel on all days for the chosen duration of the pass. This pass is preferred by those who wish to travel every day during their stay in Switzerland. A flexi pass is valid for a specific number of days which can be used consecutively or non-consecutively within a longer period. This pass is preferred by those who wish to travel only on certain days during their stay in Switzerland .
  • Children under 16 years of age accompanied by at least one parent can travel free on the Swiss travel system. Children travelling without parents can still avail of a 50% discount on the Swiss travel pass.
  • Swiss Travel Pass is valid on trains operated by SBB (Schweizerische BundesBahn), the national railway company of Switzerland. For domestic trains operated in Switzerland, seat reservations are not required. Exceptions are the special scenic trains such as Bernina Express, Glacier Express, Golden Pass and Wilhelm Tell Express. For these trains, a supplement and/or seat reservation is required for Swiss Travel Pass holders.
  • 15% cancellation charge applies to totally unused passes cancelled 3 working days prior to the first date of validity on the pass.
  • Once the pass has been cancelled the passenger will not be able to use it.
  • After the first day of validity the pass is non-refundable.
  • If the passenger is already in Switzerland then the pass must be stamped as unused prior to the first day of validity and then returned to the point of purchase.
  • Yes, you can surely buy mountain excursions online. Once you have purchased your Swiss Travel Pass you can add the desired mountain excursions to your shopping cart and pay for all services at one go.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass is your all-in-one ticket to travel by rail, road and waterway throughout the whole of Switzerland. And it includes many bonus benefits.

  • Your E – Swiss travel pass will be emailed to your mentioned Email ID within 3 working days.

  • The best time to visit Switzerland for sightseeing and to experience the scenic beauty is the summer season (May to September) as the mountain passes are open and you can see the most picturesque and panoramic views at this time of the year.
  • If you are into adventure sports then the ideal time to visit Switzerland is during the winter which starts from late December and goes on to March.
  • Switzerland is a very tourist friendly country and English is well spoken at all tourist places. So you would not have a problem with language in Switzerland.

Visas & Insurance

  • Yes, A Schengen visa is required for travel to any country in Europe that is a part of the European Union.
  • If a Guest does not have a passport then s/he is required to apply for it online (www.passportindia.gov.in – Indian national). Swisstours does not assist in getting a passport.
  • VISA means Visitors Intending to Stay Abroad. For travel to all countries that are part of the European Union a Schegen Visa is required. There are a few formalities involved and for some countries, guest is required to go for a personal interview. The visa fees are additional and are not included in the tour price.
  • We are Visa facilitator and we will guide and assist guests for filing the visa application. But Visa is granted at the sole discretion of the consulate/embassy. We do not give any assurance or guarantee of Visa to any Guest as it is beyond our control.
  • Schengen visa procedure varies from country to country. An average of 7-14 working days is required for processing visa to Switzerland, France , Germany & Austria.
  • Tour price is refunded to the Guest after deducting visa application fees and cancellation charges, if any.
  • Insurance is recommended for protection from any risks like loss, damage, accident or injury to life etc. on tour and it is required for procuring the Schengen Visa. It is not included in the tour price and will vary as per the age and destination.
Foreign Exchange

  • As per RBI rules and circulars, the Basic Travel Quota (BTQ) per financial year is US$ 10000 or equivalent per person (maximum Cash upto 3000 USD and 7000 USD by Travellers cheque) for leisure traveller and US$ 25000 for business traveller.
  • If the local currency of the country you are visiting is easily available in India, you can carry it on your tour. But, Euro and USD are globally accepted currencies and can be easily exchanged in any part of the world.
